Question

Question

Imagine that you have to teach a class of 40 undergraduate students about day trips from Lexington. In it you will need to discuss where they were going and how to get there.

You have access to any sort of classroom technology that you may need.

In a couple of sentences, mention the types of things you would like to highlight, with what particular classroom technology, and why you would use it.

Why would these particular technologies be effective for teaching this informaton and in this situation?

I am not completely sure that I understand the question, but if I were teaching undergraduate students about the options of activities in Lexington and the surrounding areas, the technology I would like to have access to would be the Internet and an overhead projector not unlike the set up we have in our current classroom. Individual computer stations would be welcome, but not necessary. Perhaps access to a printer would be helpful as well, but again, not necessary.

Most likely, I would use websites about the activity, if available, and possibly even use MapQuest to show them how to get from campus to their preferred destination. Creative, huh? :)

Displaying a map using either the overhead or internet would be useful. I would also show the students websites about the area or place of interest such as tourtist info or the chamber of commerce.

I agree with the need for a computer and projector, but I would also want a digital camera to use in case the photos available online did not capture everything about the destinations that I wanted to convey.

An interactive smart board like you briefly discussed might be nice to be able to trace the rout to any destination. You could pull up directions and maps on Google and then trace the route with the special markers. You could also easily show any websites related to the destination - if money was no object!
